Privacy policy

Safe Call QR ("Safecall", "we") runs the Safecall QR service at safecall.in. Safecall lets anyone who scans a Safecall QR sticker or tag contact its owner without either side seeing the other's phone number. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It follows the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 of India.
1. Data we collect
Owners (people who register a Safecall QR)
- Name, contact number, WhatsApp number, an emergency contact number and email address.
- The vehicle number or the name of each registered item (for example "Car keys").
- Payment records: amount, date and the payment reference. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner (Razorpay) and are never stored by us.
- WhatsApp replies you send to people who contacted you through Safecall.
People who scan a Safecall QR
- Your mobile number, which we verify with a one-time code before you can contact an owner.
- The message or reason you send, the time, and your device's IP address.
Agents and staff
- Name, email, phone number, login history, sales and commission records, and payout details (UPI ID or bank account) used to pay commission.
2. Why we use it
- To deliver alerts and replies between the person who scans a QR and its owner, without showing either phone number.
- To verify phone numbers with one-time codes and to stop spam and misuse (for example, limits on how often one person can contact an owner).
- To register and activate QR tags, take payments, issue refunds and pay agents' commission.
- To answer support requests and complaints, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform), which delivers our WhatsApp messages and codes.
- Razorpay, which processes online payments and refunds.
- Our hosting and email providers, which store data and send emails on our behalf.
- The Safecall agent who registered your QR can see your registration details to help you.
- Government or law-enforcement authorities when the law requires it.
The person who scans your QR sees only the vehicle number or item name, never your phone number, email or name. You also never see their phone number.
4. How long we keep it
We keep owner details while the QR is registered. Message and contact records are kept only as long as needed to handle complaints and misuse, and payment records for as long as tax law requires. Data we no longer need is deleted or anonymised.
5. Security
Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on secured servers with daily backups. Staff passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and staff can see only the registrations they are allowed to.
6. Your rights and data deletion
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw your consent, at any time. Email safecallqr@gmail.com from your registered email, with your vehicle number or QR code. We reply within 7 days. Once your data is deleted, your QR stops working. We may keep payment records that the law requires us to keep.
7. Children
Safecall is not meant for children under 18. Owners must be adults.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
9. Grievance officer
For any question or complaint about your data, contact our grievance officer at safecallqr@gmail.com, Safe Call QR, Malappuram, Kerala, India.
